Great Book !
Everyone can relate to the arguments presented in "The Leadership Playbook" by Nathan Jamail. It is likely your youth was full of athletics, music, band and/or academics. Much of our time as a youth was spent perfecting our skills and striving to be the best at one or more of our passions. We practiced under the guidance of a coach. We practiced on our own time because we simply enjoyed what we were doing.
Why is this life lesson of practice-makes-perfect not employed in our adulthood with our most time consuming endeavor; our careers?
It is rare that we practice our work craft. Why? It proved valuable in our childhood.
The other key concept in this book is the role of that coach contrasted to today's managers. Their goals are the same. Both the coach and the manager must extract as much value from their talent for the team to be successful. Their approach is drastically different. Does it need to be?
Grab a copy. It's worth the read. I assure you it will cause pause and perhaps change a few of your daily management habits.
Enjoy.
